Job Description

Job Title:                       Product Manager

Reports to:                   Head of Product Management - Global

 

Manage Mobile messaging and payments products in the EMEA market. Ensure the products meet customer and internal requirements and are kept up to date with changing market conditions. This is a highly cross-functional role that requires a blend of strong commercial and technical skills. The Product Manager acts as the “product architect” in terms of both platform and process and coordinates with resource managers across the business to ensure that all requirements are captured accurately

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Product Delivery

Gather high level product requirements from relevant business owners

Manage proposed projects through approval process

Plan and lead cross-functional workshops to efficiently capture and prioritise business requirements.

Document Business requirements, capture and manage comments and chart through the approval process. Own these requirements through the project lifecycle.

Manage trade-offs between the supplier groups in terms of functionality, cost and time.

Manage handover and acceptance phases prior to launch, ensuring entry criteria are completed and that appropriate sign-offs are achieved.

Provide training to operational groups where necessary.

Post-launch, provide a period of extended support to the operations team to ensure that production issues are manageable.


Product Ownership

Act as the business owner of all client facing product functionality

Maintain roadmap for future enhancements to existing products

Working with Legal as necessary, support the drafting and agreement of client and Supplier contracts and Service Level Agreements.

Work closely with Sales and Marketing to identify, evaluate and define new business opportunities and champion key opportunities through the internal mBlox evaluation process;

Work to prioritize new opportunities relative to their overall business impacts

Support the supplier RFQ/RFP process, so that technology and service suppliers are chosen correctly with full audit trail.

Maintain expert level knowledge of general market developments in the mobile messaging and payments space, both in commercial and technology terms.


Skills and experience

Experience of working as part of a Product Management team preferably within the Telecoms sector.

Experience of delivering network-resident, transaction-based products or services, as opposed to delivering hardware or software products. i.e. mobile, internet or telephony services rather than telecoms equipment or software package provision.

Experience of working with or for mobile operators is an advantage.

Experience of working with or for mobile content providers is an advantage.

Commercial experience, including SLAs and RFP process.

Experience of working with product development lifecycle (“Stage / gate”) processes.

Knowledge of the Product lifecycle and the Product Management discipline.

Comfortable with high level business thinking including value chain and business models.

Experience in Business Case production including financial modelling.

Good knowledge of design principles and of standard telecoms architectures. Able to drive technical teams effectively.

Expertise in requirements capture techniques and capable of effectively running large multi-disciplinary workshops.

Knowledge of analysing and writing process flows. Knowledge of Microsoft Visio or similar tool useful.

Experience in product test management is desirable

Knowledge of project / programme methodologies
