Job Description

Job Title:                       EMEA Counsel

Reports to:                   General Counsel (based in US)

 

This is a newly vacated position for a senior lawyer to take responsibility for the EMEA legal function. This experienced and motivated lawyer will take responsibility for EMEA legal function such as commercial, litigation, IP and general corproate matters, with added focus on telecom regulatory compliance.  This position reports to the General Counsel who is based in the US.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Develop solid working knowledge of the business through close involvement with executives and the other constituents throughout the organization

Lead responsibility for providing legal advice and drafting in support of the commercial efforts in EMEA and APAC, both with regard to customer (product sales) and carrier (sourcing) relationships

Ownership of commercial forms and change process

Understanding of key commercial issues and use of effective negotiation skills

Excercise judgment with confidence and obtain business-minded results

Empower sales organization to close deals with a minimum of delay

Assist the global legal team to manage internal and outside resources within budget

Understand regulatory and business enviroment in which company operates so as to provide clear and concise assessment of legal risks

Participate in the development and implementation of a compliance infrastructure that serves an expanding, global business

Take on ancillary work in relation to IP protection, litigation, general corporate/securities and other mattersDevelop detailed Business Requirements Documents and Use Cases in close cooperation with the Product Management team and other relevant Business Stakeholders.

 

Skills and experience

Legal degree with excellent academic credentials.

Extensive legal experience at an international law firm and/or in-house counsel experience at a multinational company within the EMEA region.

Solid experience drafting key business agreements such as – sales agreements, software licensing agreements, distribution and reseller contracts, professional services agreements, support and maintenance service contracts.

Experience from developing and managing compliance procedures.

Experience in handling telecommunications and digital content licensing.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing relationships with the mobile network operators and/or mobile industry regulators within the telecoms or mobile-related industries.

Excellent relationship building / interpersonal skills, and highly team-oriented.

Strong methodical, organizational skills.

Analytical, with a keen eye for detail.

Willingness to work in a dynamic environment and able to work under pressure.

Self-motivate and self-driven – able to work autonomously (due to remotely located management).

Superior communication skills, both verbally and written.

Strong leadership skills and ability to influence peers, superiors and corporate culture.

Uncompromising ethics.

European languages (French, Spanish, German, Italian) would be advantageous, although not essential for the role.

Desired:
